As of 25th May 2018, new data protection regulations were introduced called ‘General Data Protection Regulations’ (GDPR).

Keeping your data safe and secure is our top priority. The changes don’t alter the way we use and protect your personal information but make is easier for you to find out how we use it.

There is no action that you need to take. However, the surgery has produced a ‘Privacy Notice’ to give you more information on how we use your information, which is displayed in the Reception waiting area and below.

Summary Care Record

Kingswood Health Centre hold a ‘Summary Care Record’ (SCR) for all our patients. When registering at the surgery you will be asked whether you wish to opt in to this. The SCR is an electronic summary of the key information on your medical records. It provides this information to authorised healthcare staff with faster, secure access to essential information about you when you need unplanned care or your GP practice is closed.

These healthcare staff will ask your permission every time they need to look at your Summary Care Record. If they cannot ask you, e.g. because you’re unconscious, healthcare staff may look at your record without asking you. If they have to do this, they will make a note on your record.
